Stocks finish little changed as COVID-19 relief hangs in limboU.S. equity markets ended flat Friday following a quiet summer trading session after lawmakers went on break without agreeing on a coronavirus relief package and retail sales softened. The Dow Jones Industrial Average posted modest gains, rising over 34 points or 0.12%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were little changed, falling 0.02% percent and 0.21% respectively. The S&P 500 remains just shy of a record after several attempts to secure the 3,386.15 level this week. The Senate adjourned for its August recess on Thursday, joining the House, as Republicans and Democrats remain $1 trillion apart on a coronavirus relief package.
