I have over 200 plastic stitch markers from China (cheaper that way and they seldom snag the yarn). Someone showed me to mark a few of them with hook sizes (G, H, I, J). Some ladies put the metric size (4.00, 4.5, 5.00, 5.5). This helps to remember what size hook you are using with a project when you have multiple projects going at once.

Making a Crab from a Scallop Shell

I like to buy scallop appetizers at the seafood shop. They come in these beautiful shells, so I clean them and keep them for crafts. I've made a little red crab with one of them here. It's pretty easy to do and looks so cute. You can add a magnet to the back and put it on your fridge, if you like!

Thinking Outside of the Box - Cross Stitch Patterns for Crochet

Tired of looking for crochet patterns in all the same places? I found cross stitch patterns are very easy to use. Each square is a single crochet. When changing colors, just place the one you aren't using on top of previous row and crochet over it until you need the color again.

Does your child love flowers like my daughter? I made a bunch of these tulip straw flowers and put them in a pot as a home decoration for her play kitchen. She loves to take the flowers out of the pot and pretend to smell them and give them to her teddy bears. This is an easy "toy" prop that is free and gives your child joy!

When I was in school, I used to take my mechanical pencil to my banana peels to make designs on them. Now I've learned to make prettier, more detailed designs on them. When banana peels are poked or cut, they release chemicals that cause oxidation, turning the marked areas brown.

This is a quick and easy baby afghan to make. I just love worsted weight yarn so I try and make most of my baby projects in it. It makes for a warm and heavy blanket. But this could also be made in sport weight or baby weight yarn for a lighter blanket.

My little nieces and nephews adore ninjas, so I thought we could make some out of eggs for Easter this year. These ninjas wear coloured belts made of ribbon, and have little swords on their backs that are made of toothpicks. The swords double up as a way to keep the ninjas standing up without any other support!

Our Chihuahua neurotically drinks water because of a psychological problem. She will go to any lengths to get to the water bowl for our other dogs, which is on the other side of the baby gate. She would squeeze through it and under it. So I made this fabric cover for the gate.
