To get where you are going you should follow a GPS (in the old days, we'd follow a map). When looking to achieve your goals there is a map as well. That map is the behavior of others. 

Who else has done what you want to do?

How did they do it?

Seek out others who have been successful and interview them. Get as much information as you can to benefit from their experience.

Do secondary research: Read everything you can. Take courses and watch videos. 

Emulate the behavior (the actions) of those who are successful. Avoid the mistakes they've made. Follow their guide.
