STATE OF THE ART / ART OF THE STATE April 9 to September 18, 2022 Opens Saturday, April 9 Join us from 10 AM to 5 PM See over 700 unique works of art from over 700 unique artists living in North Carolina Thank you to all 776 artists that participate in State of the Art / Art of the State. This exhibition gives voice to the resilience of the creative spirit and it is your voice that we wish to amplify! CAM welcomed over 2,000 visitors last weekend for our 24-hour Art Happening and we are so grateful to those artists that patiently went through the process to submit their work. Every artist that participated had the rare opportunity to visit with a well renowned curator. This year we were joined by Alejo Benedetti from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Dr. Maia Nuku from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Michael Rooks from the High Museum of Art Atlanta. Inspired by famed curator Walter Hopps, the design of this project provided participating artists the opportunity to speak one on one with a curator about their work and process.

“This is a truly rare educational opportunity for artists to not only get advice and insight into their work, but a chance to be heard. Our hope is that this event will motivate and inspire artists of all levels and we are so fortunate to bring this to the community.” - Anne Brennan, Executive Director
