Situational Analysis | April 29, 2024 It's Monday and National Zipper Day. What a great invention. What you need to know Conventions are over and it's on to the primary for a few. On the Republican side, Trent Staggs is the convention nominee for the Senate seat. He will face Brad Wilson, John Curtis and Jason Walton in the primary. Jeremy Lyman is the convention nominee for governor, and he will face current Gov. Spencer Cox in the primary. In congressional district 1, Rep. Blake Moore will face Ogden electrician Paul Miller. In CD2, new Rep. Celeste Maloy is in a primary with Mike Lee-endorsed Colby Jenkins and in CD 3, current Utah Senator Mike Kennedy once again emerged as the convention nominee (He ran for US Senate against Mitt Romney 6 years ago, won at convention and lost in the primary.) Kennedy will face Roosevelt Mayor JR Bird, current state auditor John Dougall, Sky Zone founder Case Lawrence and commercial litigator Stewart Peay in the primary. The convention opened for credentialing at 7 am and did not adjourn until just before midnight. For the Democrats, Utah Rep. Brian King is the nominee for governor and Caroline Gleich as their U.S. Senate candidate. The nominee for CD1 is Bill Campbell, for CD2 is currently Brian Adams, but he is expected to withdraw from the race as early as today. The CD3 nominee is Glenn Wright and the CD4 nominee is Katrina Fallick-Wang.
