| Tadej Pogacar won his first Tour de France stage out of a 5-man breakaway after brave attacker Marc Hirschi who soloed 90km before the end got caught within 2km to go. He was the second Slovenian to win in Laruns in just as many finishes in the Pyrenean town, two years after Primoz Roglic who moved into the overall lead of the Tour de France for the first time in his career. Adam Yates surrendered in the ascent to col de Marie-Blanque. | | |

He is younger than Thibaut Pinot, who won in 2012 at Porrentruy at 22 years, 1 month and 9 days, and Peter Sagan, who claimed a stage on the same Tour at Seraing at 22 years, 5 months and 5 days. If Marc Hirschi had won this stage, he would have been the one becoming the youngest winner of the century at 22 years and 13 days. | | |
