Cities focus on residential plowing as new storms on the horizon

St. Paul considers $100,000 to Rondo neighborhood descendants buy homes, build wealth

Speaking at the 37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration: Building Black Wealth event in Saint Paul, Mayor Carter said the city will move forward with a proposal to offer low-income families up to $100,000 to help buy a home and build wealth.

It’s no snow emergency, but St. Paul wants your vehicle off the street this week

With nearly a winter’s worth of snow already on the ground in mid-January, St. Paul’s Public Works department is sounding the snow alarm: either the streets need to be cleaned up, or single-sided parking bans are on the table.
The city has made requests in the past for people on residential streets to move their cars after snow emergencies have expired. But the St. Paul is getting a little more aggressive this time, saying tickets and tows are part of this effort as well – although the city plans to focus on abandoned and lingering snowbirds.

Feeling a little blue? You might be standing under a bad streetlight. Minnesotans driving and walking through St. Paul at night may notice the pools of weird street lighting, changing hue from daylight white to stunningly blue. It’s not on purpose and the city wants help spotting them.
On King's holiday, daughter calls for bold action over words. America has honored Martin Luther King Jr. with a federal holiday for nearly four decades yet still hasn't fully embraced and acted on the lessons from the slain civil rights leader, his youngest daughter said Monday.
