Good evening,

Good evening,

Today’s big news in dealmaking was Brookes and Brookfield’s reversal from AGL Energy.

The duo lobbed a sweetened offer over the weekend, and it didn’t take long for AGL’s board to knock it back again.

With the tag team out of the scene, AGL Energy’s investors will be hoping the company has a stronger story to tell on the value that its mooted demerger could create for them.

Among the listed gold players, there’s whispers of M&A activity and fingers were pointing to St Barbara as a potential target.

Elsewhere, an ex-Future Fund private equity team’s new firm is busy pitching to potential investors, and Link Investors are hoping for some news on its takeover.

Happy reading
