Using simple materials you can find around your house like a 2-liter bottle, sticks, pinecones, and leaves, you and your student will create a pollinator hotel in under an hour.
This hands-on project not only provides a safe haven for insects to find rest and shelter, but also offers a practical lesson in ecology and conservation. Your student will learn about concepts like symbiosis and mutualism while helping to preserve your area’s biopersity.
BONUS: Every region has different pollinators. Research your local pollinators ahead of time so you can make a hotel that caters to their specific needs.
Don’t forget to snap photos of your pollinator hotel and share them with us on Instagram @homesciencetools – we'd love to feature your student’s creation! |
