Coming soon to your mailbox: Your Ballot for the May Election!

Springing into Action . . . With the Jackson County Democrats!

Flowers are blooming across the valley and our mountains have turned green . . . It’s Spring in Jackson County and your local Democrats are springing into action for the upcoming MAY election!

Coming soon to your mailbox:  Your Ballot for the May Election!

All registered voters will receive a ballot for the May election.  Ballots will be mailed in Jackson County on May 3 and must be returned by May 21.  Oregon has closed primaries, so you must be registered as a Democrat or a Republican to vote for partisan candidates running in the primaries.  All voters (including non-affiliated voters and voters affiliated with a minor party such as the Green Party or the Independent party) will be able to vote for nonpartisan positions in county government, circuit court judges, state judicial offices and measures.

To register or update your registration, visit:  https://sos.oregon.gov/voting/Pages/registration.aspx?lang=en

Today is a great day to check your voter’s registration to make sure everything is in order for the May election.  The last day to register to vote or change your party affiliation is APRIL 30!

It’s not too late to run as a PCP - File as a Write-In!

More Democratic Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) are needed from communities across Jackson County—and there’s still a way to get elected in the upcoming May election.

We’re beyond the filing deadline, but anyone who still wants to run for PCP this spring may do so by declaring themself to be a write-in candidate.  Here is the relevant link on the Secretary of State website:  https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Pages/write-in-candidate-declaration-sel-105d.aspx

If you don’t know your precinct number, you can use this link to find it:

https://gis.jacksoncountyor.gov/datasets/b0a8285c018c4951a6ad9488252c3469/explore

The precinct committee person (PCP) is an elective office, and it is very important to the success of our party.  We ask PCPs to be regular attendees of our monthly Central Committee meetings (as often as your life circumstances will permit), and to contribute to our decision making.  We ask you to contribute in other ways to the party, as you are able, such as by serving on a standing committee, being a grassroots donor, or working on projects that will help advance our mission of electing Democrats.

Your voice and your perspective can make a difference in the local Democratic party.  Contact [email protected] or leave us a message at 541-858-1050 if you have any questions about becoming a PCP.  Thank you for considering this important work.

This Spring . . . Help us Grow Democracy in our County! *Volunteer for Community Events*

Throughout the Spring and Summer, the Jackson County Democrats will be out engaging with voters at community events.  Our booth coordinators, Jan Waitt and Beverly Deleonardis are working hard to schedule volunteers to staff these upcoming events.

To volunteer, email: [email protected] and they will call you back to schedule your shift.

UPCOMIMG BOOTHS:

Pear Blossom Street Fair - April 12 and April 13- Downtown Medford

Gold Dust Day - June 1st - Gold Hill

Jackson County Fair - July 16 - 21 - Jackson County Expo - Central Point

Please note that we will need a lot folks to volunteer at the Jackson County Fair! We have secured a booth in the indoor space for the fair this year, so our volunteers can be cool and comfortable.

*Get out the BLUE Vote in your Neighborhood*

Democracy starts in your neighborhood!  Please consider becoming a Neighborhood Leader (NL) with the Jackson County Democrats.  And if you’re already a part of the Neighborhood Leader program, please be watching your emails for important news from the Neighborhood Leader Program as we gear up for the Primary and General Elections.  To learn more, visit  https://www.jcdemocrats.org/nlp-menu

To volunteer, email:  [email protected]

Neighborhood leaders contact Democratic and Progressive voters in their neighborhood or a nearby neighborhood and encourage them to vote.  You’ll be given a turf (a list of voters) to contact and lots of training and support.

Thank You to all our Roosevelt-Kennedy Dinner Guests!

And a special thank you to the volunteers who worked to put this lovely evening together.   Photographer, Dasja Dolan, took a wonderful collection of photos at this event.  You can view the photos here: https://www.dasjadolan.com/Events/Political-events/Democratic-Party-of-Oregon/Jackson-County-Democrats-Annual-Rosevelt-Kennedy-Dinner-2024

If you’d like to purchase a copy of a digital photo, Dasja will be donating the proceeds back to the Jackson County Democrats.

Jackson County BLUE 2024 .  . . Your Donation will make a difference!

Help us reach our goal of $40,000 for Jackson County to GO BLUE in the 2024 election cycle.  Thanks to everyone who donated at last year’s Wine in the Garden and at the recent Roosevelt-Kennedy dinner–We’re almost halfway to our goal.

We’re raising funds to encourage Democrats and progressive-minded voters to use their power of the vote in local elections right here in Jackson County. Funds raised will be spent across Jackson County communities to get out the BLUE vote.

You know that the outcome of the 2024 elections couldn't be more crucial for our county and indeed our country.

The Oregon Republican party has pledged to end Oregon's vote by mail system and dismantle the Affordable Care Act.

We need your help to fight back by electing local leaders who will stand against that and support state and national leaders to do the same.

Saving democracy starts right here in Jackson County . . Will you join us?
