| Good evening, It seems that there are always people who will see a potential disaster as a money-making opportunity. But the pandemic has opened up a whole new level of scams for people intent on taking money from people by making them confused and/or uneasy. The latest scam doing the rounds in Lancashire, according to our Trading Standards experts, is one where people are fleeced of cash by fraudsters claiming to be offering NHS Covid passports to allow people access to holidays, sporting events and even nightclubs. There has been so much confusion around what events require paperwork - and that can even differ from country to country even within the UK - that it is hardly surprising people are being duped. Like banks, the NHS will never ask for payment or any financial details or issue fines or penalties about a Covid pass....but that’s not to say they don't seem believable at first glance. The sad truth is that where there is an opportunity to make money, a scam will not be far behind. Spread the word so your loved ones - and their cash - stay safe. Until next time, take care, Gillian | |
