Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider Newsletter for Thursday, June 9. The Saints returned to the practice field this week for their final week of Organized Team Activities. The media has access to Thursday's workout so we'll have more reports from practice on Friday. One of the early storylines from OTAs has been the number of key players that aren't there. But those absences have created more opportunities for the guys who are participating in workouts. One of those players is J.T. Gray, who is coming off a career year. The special teams ace earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2021, his fourth NFL season. Now he hopes to make a mark as a safety on the Saints' top-ranked defense. Gray has made the most of his extended reps at safety this offseason, Rod Walker writes. "He runs and he hits with intensity," Saints co-defensive coordinator Kris Richard says of Gray. Former Saints star Drew Brees made official this week what was reported last month: That he is one-and-done as an analyst at NBC Sports. Brees is expected to either take the year off or work as an NFL analyst at Fox Sports, the Associated Press reports. That will do it for today, but we'll have more coverage from Thursday's workout and throughout the weekend, so keep it locked to NOLA.com, where we'll have you covered with breaking news and analysis of this Saints team. Until next time, Jeff Duncan |
