Dear Friend, The California Air Resources Board (CARB), the state agency responsible for setting air pollution regulations, is developing a major rule that would require manufacturers to make electric trucks available. However, CARB staff has prepared a rule that is far too weak. We need your help to strengthen the rule. Send an email to CARB today urging that it revise the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Rule to get more electric trucks on the road and reduce truck pollution in the state. California has the worst air quality in the nation, in part because of diesel engine pollution from freight movement. People who live near a port, a freeway, a freight rail yard or a warehouse district get hit daily by toxic diesel pollution from trucks. As a result, they are more likely to suffer from lung and heart disease and shortened lifespan. |
CARB must establish a bold standard that spurs the electric truck market and saves lives. Our analysis has conservatively estimated that current technology would allow for at least 15% of the trucks on the road be zero emission by 2030. Polluting trucks would still be used in California, but there would be enough electric trucks to make sure the market is on the right trajectory. Electric trucks have zero direct tailpipe emissions, cost less to maintain and are considerably more efficient than their diesel or methane gas counterparts. Click here to urge CARB to release a stronger electric truck regulation that will help us clean up California’s air and reach climate emissions reduction goals. Thank you for taking action. Sincerely, |
