It's Friday. Time for the results of this week's poll. We asked: What is the major / most important food trend of the last 50 years? You answered: The rise of natural + organic (55%) Local + farm to table (26%) Plant-based + vegan (17%) Other, tell us in the comments (2%) Natural and organic wins the day. This is what else you had to say: Chad Solari, Retail Account Executive Whether you're a business or a consumer, to move towards Organic is to move towards a better future. Barbara Ruhs, Nutrition Expert The rise and relevancy of retail dietitians being hired at most supermarkets and offering consumers access to affordable nutrition advice from credentialed nutrition experts. Andreu Roig, Retail Sales Manager Fifty years ago, most of the food was produced locally or nationally. The fertilizers used were not as evolved and neither was the genetic modification of seeds. Therefore we could consider that the crops were mostly "organic". A separate issue is food safety, the pesticides used, as well as sanitary controls do not meet today's standards. So I consider that from the 60-70's until today the main trend has been the advance in food safety and quiality standards. ** Do you agree? Have another thought?
