Spartanburg development groups unite, unveil awards

As the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 2020 Annual Celebration, the organization announced a new name and 24 honorees for this year's leadership awards.

Virtual Artisphere scheduled for Oct. 2-4

Greenville's flagship art festival Artisphere, presented by TD Bank, will spotlight the work of 70 professional artists at an online marketplace and engagement hub Oct. 2-4. The event generated an economic impact of $9.1 million last year.

Commerce awards $3.2M to 8 S.C. organizations

Eight S.C. organizations will be awarded CARES Act Recovery Assistance from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to help boost their economic development programs during the pandemic, the Commerce Department said.

‘Outer Banks’ to resume filming Aug. 31

The Netflix series, which brought in $31.4 million in direct spending last year, returns to the the Lowcountry on Monday. "Outer Banks" is one of two television shows currently filmed in South Carolina.

Nonresidential construction sees spending slump in July

An analysis of federal data found a decrease of 1.2% nationwide from June to July. While residential spending increased, commercial construction dropped by 3.2%. Among S.C. metro areas, Columbia gained 200 jobs in a 12-month period.
