Your Tuesday evening update from the Lancashire Post
View email online | | | | | Jan 11, 2022 | | | | | | Good evening, Can you remember the moment we went into that first lockdown in March 2020? Most of us will remember it very well - we walked out of our offices, saying goodbye to our colleagues and thought we would see them all again in a couple of month’s time. How wrong we were. Several lockdowns later, things still have not got back to normal and there are still thousands of people every day contracting Covid. But what did also emerge at that time was a huge sense of community; the thought that we were all in this together and we would get through it together somehow. People looked after elderly neighbours, held zumba sessions in the street and delivered homemade pizzas to the doorstep of pals. Yes, it was tough, but we conjured up the spirit of the blitz and got through the isolation to keep everyone we loved safe. Well, some of us did. While we stayed inside our four walls, Downing Street was sending out invitations to a Bring Your Own Booze party. As George Orwell might have observed, some of us are clearly more equal than others... Until next time, take care Gillian Contact me at [email protected] | |
