Snake rodeo? This isn’t a good weekend to be a snake in Lake Providence. Following a tradition that dates to the 1960s, folks will head to the lake in the north Louisiana town with the aim of killing as many snakes as possible, no matter the type, in what they dub a “rodeo.” Prizes will even be given. As you can imagine, the event doesn’t sit well with everyone, Faimon Roberts reports.

More water problems: As complaints have stacked up about a water utility in the Slidell area, St. Tammany Parish ordered a "chlorine burn," which, as you probably surmised, is a chlorine-heavy cleaning process. Government officials say the water is clean and safe, and the burn was being done mostly to restore public confidence. This week they announced the 60-day process was stopped after only 20 days. Sara Pagones has been following this story for months.
