"It doesn't matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." -Confucious #cutekid has started rock climbing. She did her first competition a few weekends ago, and though we didn’t bother staying around for the awards ceremony, she blew David and I away with her mad skills. But, sadly, this email isn’t about how she was climbing, it’s about how the cute little 8-year old ginger boy (I’m not hating on the ginger, I have a soft-spot in my heart for them; David is kinda ginger, so respect), too small for his age, got up a 15ft course too hard for most of the older kids. He’d stretch those little arms, pause, readjust - over and over. It took him forever to get up that wall, but he made it. And by the time he was at the top, everyone was watching and cheering. Because - how cute! And seriously impressive. On #cutekid’s next climb, I told her to think back on that boy - Slow down and focus. She’s a lot like me - frenzy, frenzy, do the thing. But as I’ve grown I’ve learned the art of slowing down the pace and focusing on one task at a time. I hope I can help her do the same. You too, for that matter. Slow down and focus. Doing business online is a frenzy. For the past few weeks my team has been neck-deep in "launch season." Several client sites wrapping up at once, and just this week my team and I launched the new Being Boss website. Talk about a frenzy. But even in the bustle of days before this launch, I found myself staring, overwhelmed at my to-do list, and repeating this new mantra to myself: slow down and focus. It helped me pick one task at a time to tackle. One to-do after another, until I reached the finish line. Because this business really is just one thing at a time. Slow down and focus. TO-DO FOR YOU: Tackle your to-do list today in a very focused way. I encourage you to try the Post-It Note Method. Let me know how it helps you.
