Good evening

Spring is here, the sun is shining and we have Covid on the run ... haven’t we?

There is no doubt that infections across the country are going down, as are hospitalisations and deaths, while at the same time, 20million-plus people have received their first vaccination.

The children are about to go back to school and some of us have even managed to book a hair appointment after April 12, when salons and barbers are likely to re-open.

So, all's right with the world, isn’t it?

Not quite. Some of Lancashire’s infection rates are much higher than the national average - and this is when we are all supposed to be in lockdown, so what is going to happen when society opens up?

The county’s director of public health is predicting a ‘bumpy ride’ because we know the higher the case rate, the more likely we are to see variants of the virus.

While we would all like to throw caution to the wind, see friends and family, head out into the sun and down to the pub for a pint, we might be wise to take our foot off the pedal at first. Slow and steady will win this race.

Until next time, stay safe,

Gillian
