Nine years ago, I received an e-mail from a friend trying to find homes for a litter of stray kittens. I made the mistake of clicking on the attached photo. An adorable black-and-white kitten that looked a lot like my beloved Mittsy, who had died a few years prior, filled my screen. I hadn't been looking to adopt another cat, but I went to see the kitten anyway a few days later. Sitting on my friend's floor with a lapful of kitties, I fell in love. My friend had named the tuxedo kitten Misty — so similar to "Mittsy" that I took it as a sign we were meant to be together. I told my friend I would take her. But as we played, I noticed that Misty and one of her littermates were inseparable. That's when I made my second mistake. They were so cute together that I said I'd take both of them.
