It’s no secret podcasts have become immensely popular and influential.
(I mean just look at this last election)
A few of my clients have been talking about starting podcasts so I’ve had some time recently to reflect on the topic…
And there’s a few important points I thought I should share if this is something you’re considering too. First of all, if you’re a business owner…
The ONLY purpose of having a podcast is to get you clients/customers.
Nothing else. Therefore, you should only:
a) Interview your clients and have them tell their “Hero’s Journey” story (how you / your product helped them)
b) Do solo shows & rants with WOW takeaways (high value or perspective shifting information)
c) Interview people with a MASSIVE following (which elevates your celebrity because "oh wow you know Tony Robbins, Alex Hormozi, Jen Sincero, Sabri Suby, or Craig Ballantyne" etc.)
d) Interview people with a decent podcast audience size who will also have you on their show
(“Decent podcast audience size” is up to you... for me, it's a minimum 2,500 downloads per show... I set that as a cut-off for being on a stranger’s show)
That's it.
Otherwise, delete all other people’s pitch emails to be on your show.
My podcast follows the above steps — mostly solo rants and client interviews — and it’s helpful, but neither necessary nor sufficient for generating clients.
So if this is something you’ve been feeling pulled to do…
Don’t be afraid to put the podcast on pause if you have better ways of getting clients.
Because you're already busy enough and don't have time to waste.
Success Loves Speed,
Craig
