Should high schoolers graduate even after they fail?

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

BESE vs. LDOE: Top state education leaders this week tussled over whether high schoolers should be allowed to graduate after failing state exams, James Finn reports. That feud has caused confusion in school districts across the state.

Voting rights: A federal judge has given state lawmakers two extra weeks to redraw Louisiana's congressional maps to comply with the Voting Rights Act, Meghan Friedmann reports. If the state can't agree on a new map by that time, the matter will be settled in court.

NOLA crime: Gov.-elect Jeff Landry has long railed against New Orleans' crime rate. This week, he announced a partnership that will give the Attorney General's office more authority to solve crimes in the city, Finn reports.
