The Shortcat 2023 is out! We are extremely proud to present the brand new Shortcat 2023. This selection has been delicately curated, showing once again the potential of the short film as an artistic and creative platform, and is a sample of the very interesting talent among the Catalan contemporary creators. The selection comes after a really good year for Catalan cinema, which has been recognised, awarded and screened globally. Shortcat 2023 is a diverse, bold and fresh catalogue that ranges from fiction to documentary and animation, and echoes issues that are now more current than ever such as feminism, human relations, capitalism or climate emergency. We warmly thank this yearâs jury, for their valuable and essential work in the selection process: Marie-Pauline Mollaret, coordinator of short films and member of the selection committee of the Semaine de la Critique de Cannes, JosĂ© Gil, coordinator of the Chileshorts catalog and collaborator of the industry areas of the MĂĄlaga Festival â MAFIZ and Mostra FIRE!!, among others, Sven Pötting, programmer at Filmest Dresden â International Short Film Festival, Carlotta Schiavon, founder of Vayolet Films and producer of Farrucas, short film selected at Shortcat 2021, and Salima Jirari, curator and consultant specialized in several audiovisual projects.
