Good evening,

First of all, congratulations are in order today for all those GCSE students out there who have kept studying  in the most difficult and insecure of circumstances.

It is an absolute critical point of these young people's lives and to go through a pandemic at the same time seems almost impossible.

But study they did and today should be a day of celebration – whatever those grades are.

It's a tough time for those still waiting for their B-tec results but hopefully they will be through soon.

Meanwhile, we have finally had the sentence through regarding Hashem Abedi, the brother of the Manchester bomber Salman.

Between them, they were responsible for 22 murders and hundreds more life-changing injuries.

Here in Lancashire we felt the loss of our own hugely.

This sentence was the longest ever handed down by a court in British legal history, yet barely seems long enough.

As always, thanks for supporting lep.co.uk
