| Shark research More sharks are hanging around off our coast and the CSULB Shark Lab has been the team helping to figure out why, but also helping local agencies decide when to get people out of the water and when it’s safe to let the good times at the beach splash on. The research team got a big boost in state funding in 2018, adding to its numbers and advancing its research, but that grant has been stretched as far as possible and Shark Lab officials say a new funding source is needed to go on. “Sharks are moving to places they haven’t been before because of climate change,” Chris Lowe, the lab’s director, said. “We just don’t know how their behavior will change. That’s why we need to keep doing what we’re doing.” Read the story. |
