Surfrider Europe's Guide to Best Practices for Plastic Bottles

Surfrider has identified 5 key actions that every city should implement to reduce their plastic pollution. This “Best Practice Guide” is intended primarily as a resource for local authorities and decision makers, but also for citizens to stay informed and active in the discussions surrounding these growing issues.

OdySeine: A sporty decent of the Seine

The idea started with Candy and Mathilde, two friends from Normandy who not only live by the Seine, they live through it. Lifelong protectors of the environment, these adventurers founded OdySeine; a project designed to raise public awareness and identify aquatic waste along the banks of the Seine by canoe!

Zero Waste: Where To Begin?

‘Zero waste’ is a lifestyle that copes with the overconsumption from our current society. It’s about consuming less in a more responsible way. The swirling trash in our oceans due to human action is raising awareness on zero-waste ideology and our will to change our habits. Here are a few daily tips you can follow to help kickstart your zero waste way of life.

ERICIERA CHAPTER

At the end of August a "Green Water" day was organized by the Ericeira Chapter (Portugal). Volunteers enjoyed stand up paddle lessons in addition to various environmental awareness sessions. Attendees were able to participate in discussion and exchange workshops, a beach cleaning and a screening of the film "A Plastic Ocean", followed by a discussion / debate. A truly beautiful awareness day!

GUADELOUPE CHAPTER

The Guadeloupe Chapter was reactivated by a new motivated team of volunteers this summer and has wasted no time organizing several actions including a big Ocean Initiative of thirty volunteers this August! Alongside Martinique and Reunion Island, Guadeloupe comprises the 3rd branch of the French overseas department. Congratulations to the volunteers and welcome back to Surfrider!

This fall, Surfrider is introducing the new Vintage Sweatshirt, a zipped hoodie made from 100% combed organic cotton. By choosing environmentally friendly fabrics, you directly reduce the consumption of chemicals that are harmful to the environment and our health.
