NEW REPORT - Fair Enough? IETM Focus Brussels 2022 In April 2022, IETM gathered its members in Brussels for our new format Focus meeting, titled Fair Enough? It was a space to explore, critique and improve our work practices and conditions. Are they fair and human enough? What does “fair’’ mean in your specific professional context? Which practices and conditions can you and your organisation change, and what is beyond your power?
These questions and more were explored in three participatory working sessions held over two days at the Brussels meeting. IETM, together with independent evaluator Vassilka Shishkova, has compiled an in-depth report to showcase the intentions and outcomes of the meeting, which mapped the urgencies, recommendations and good practices in the performing arts sector. With contributions from 173 participants, the IETM Focus Brussels report is a collection of challenges we still face as a sector and ideas on how we can advance the fair and green transition of the performing arts and rethink our international existence, in small and large steps. Audio Version: #MeToo in Culture: From call-outs to structural change IETM is excited to introduce the audio version of #MeToo in Culture: From call-outs to structural change. This SHIFT publication puts forward solution-oriented strategies for combating sexual harassment and power abuse in the arts, and for creating equitable and safe professional environments for art workers. By introducing an audio version of the publication, those with reduced vision or visual impairment will have access to the full report, and those who prefer listening to reading can bring the publication on with them on the go!
Local Journeys for Change (LJC) is one of our capacity building projects where IETM members develop projects meant to bring positive change in their local community. Take a look at the latest blog posts and news from the 24 projects supported by Local Journeys for Change:
Convergence, the LJC project led by Teatru Salesjan (Malta), had its first workshop with Chickenshed, a pioneering and inclusive company that focuses on creating accessible theatre-related events based in London. This hour-long meeting served as a space for them to learn about what type of inclusive frameworks other theatrical spaces have implemented in order to make the work they create as accessible as possible.
Local Journeys for Change at Tanzmesse 2022
At the beginning of September Barbara Poček, project coordinator of Local Journeys for Change, was invited to the panel ‘(Un)probable Futures’ during the 2022 edition of Tanzmesse in Düsseldorf, Germany. This was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of empowering communities and the urgencies in their local communities.
