| ADRIPASS kick-off meeting held in Trieste – February 2, 2018 On 31 January the CEI - Executive Secretariat, in its quality as Lead Partner - hosted the Kick-off Meeting of the project ADRIPASS (Integrating multimodal connections in the Adriatic-Ionian region), funded under the Interreg ADRION Programme. The 24-month project officially started on 1 January 2018. The meeting represented an opportunity to discuss all project activities and agree on intermediate deadlines, besides those already foreseen in the project. Partners will start with a definition of a Joint Methodology for the data collection on Border Crossing Points. Ample information is already available through the legacy of the previous EU Projects and some studies performed by SEETO (South East Europe Transport Observatory). SEETO actively participated in the meeting, as it is leading the WP 3 within the Project: Transnational institutional cooperation for integrated multimodal connections in Adrion region. |

| EBRD signs MoU on 700 mln euro investment in road modernisation in Bosna and Herzegovina – February 26, 2018 The EBRD said on Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Bosna and Herzegovina's two entities which outlines an investment programme of over 700 million euro ($863.7 million) for the development and modernisation of the country's road infrastructure. The programme refers to the period 2018-2020. The MoU was signed between the bank and the ministers of transport and communications of Bosna and Herzegovina's two entities, the Federation and the Serb Republic, the EBRD said in a statement. The planned investment programme in the Federation includes the section of Corridor Vc from Poprikuse to Nemila; the tunnel Ivan on Corridor Vc; the section of Corridor Vc from the Mostar South interchange to Tunnel Kvanj; the section of Corridor Vc from Karuse to the inter-entity boundary line in Tunnel Putnikovo Brdo; and the Corridor Vc section between Tunnel Ivan and Mostar South interchange. |

| EU grants 38.5 mln euro co-financing to EBRD-funded railway project in Kosovo – February 15, 2018 The European Union will provide a grant of 38.5 million euro ($47.6 million) to co-finance a project funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for upgrading Kosovo’s only international rail link, the bank said. The grant comes on top of a senior loan of 39.9 million euro from the EBRD provided in 2015 to finance the three-stage modernisation of Kosovo’s railway infrastructure, EBRD said in a statement following the signing of the grant agreement in Pristina. “The project will improve the connection between Kosovo’s railway network and the wider European network through Pan-European Corridor VIII and Corridor X,” the bank said. |

| | Serbia and Croatia seek EU funding for Belgrade-Zagreb modernization – February 15, 2018 The Serbian Infrastructure Ministry, jointly with the Croatian government, intends to seek financing from the European Union towards the cost of a project for the overhaul of the Belgrade-Zagreb railway line. The 412 km-long Belgrade-Zagreb railway line is part of pan-European Transport Corridor X. On the territory of Serbia, the project envisages the reconstruction of both tracks of the Golubinac-Sid section of the railway line, as well as the overhaul of the Ruma-Sid section, at a total cost of about EUR 250 million. |

| Bosnian Government endorses World Bank rail loan – January 15, 2018 Bosna and Herzegovina's government has endorsed a draft agreement with the World Bank for a EUR 51.3 million loan. The loan repayment period is 32 years, including a seven-year grace. The draft loan deal has been sent to Bosnia’s collective presidency for approval. The loan will be allocated to Republika Srpska to finance a railway restructuring project. |

| EIB to lend 130 mln euro for Serbia's Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway overhaul – February 1, 2018 The European Investment Bank has signed an agreement to extend a 130 million euro ($161.8 million) loan towards the cost of overhaul and electrification of the 100 km Dimitrovgrad-Nis railway line in eastern Serbia, EIB vice-president Dario Scannapieco said. The European Commission will support the project with a 73 million euro investment under the Western Balkan connectivity agenda in addition to the EIB loan, Scannapieco said in a video file posted on the website of Serbian news agency Tanjug. |
