Foodwise Impact Report 2023-24: Nourishing Community & Building Equity Together

See your impact! Our latest impact report covers a time of revitalization in the Bay Area and beyond. As downtown San Francisco rebounds from the ripple effects of the pandemic, Foodwise farmers markets have been a constant source of economic support for California’s small sustainable farmers and food entrepreneurs, healthy food access for thousands of Bay Area residents, and education and empowerment for eaters of all ages. We can’t do this important work without you! Let’s look back on what we accomplished together.

Join us tomorrow at the Foodwise Classroom at 12 pm for a cooking demo with Chef Kuldeep Singh of TIYA, who will be making the Indian snack Cauliflower Pakoda, with recipes and samples for all.

Pop-Ups on the Plaza: Black Creators Craft Market

August is Black Business Month! On Saturday, August 17, celebrate with a day of crafts and community at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, featuring 12 Black Bay Area crafters. Entry is free, with products available for purchase.

Grilled Lamb Pinchos with Pickled Tomato, Summer Peppers, and Peaches

At the Foodwise Classroom, Chef Mat Schuster of Canela shared this summery skewer recipe, in partnership with the American Lamb Board.

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Featured Vendors

Visit Hodo's stand tomorrow to celebrate their 20th, and enjoy delicious culinary creations, games, and prizes! In gratitude for the farmers market community, they'll be donating 50% of their proceeds to Foodwise Kids.

After 12 years, Beber has made the difficult decision to close their operations. Say farewell tomorrow at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, and show them love and gratitude for their delicious, organic almondmilk.

Mission Community Market: Featured Vendors

At the Mission on Thursdays and Ferry Plaza on Saturdays, try Alexendre Family Farm's new regenerative European-Style Butter, Sharp Cheddar Cheese, and Probiotic Sour Cream.

Bolita will be back at the Mission Community Market on August 15 and 29 and September 5. Stop by next Thursday to pick up freshmasa, tortillas, salsas, and other handcrafted items made with Mexican landrace maíz.
