Sanctions Against Russia Pose A Conundrum For Bitcoin
By Dominic Collard Bitcoin is the most unzeisable, censorship resistant and unstoppable monetary system that the human race has ever known, it is also accessible to anyone and immune to any kind of manipulation. For that reason, trying to impose sanctions over the Bitcoin network is quite useless.
Since Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, Russia has been submerged into suffocating economic sanctions and almost half of the country’s reserve have been seized by foreign governments. It is evident that Russia was not fully prepared to face the consequences of disobeying the western powers, however, it is quite likely that the next country willing to do so will be well prepared holding an unseizable asset like Bitcoin. That’s quite a conundrum because Bitcoin works for anyone, even for a tyrannical dictator. |
