Mall python goes viral

She was the star of Blue Zoo's thrice-weekly snake shows. But Cara's disappearing act made her more famous than ever. By the third day of being MIA, the 12-foot albino Burmese python's banana-yellow likeness was plastered in the tabloids and all over social media. 

Lara Nicholson — who, incidentally, has been making a name for herself writing about animals in unlikely places — brings us the latest updates on the mall python saga. 


Ex-guard sues

Surveillance footage showed an inmate dragging a female prison guard into a bathroom at knifepoint. Now, a year later, the ex-officer is suing the DOC, claiming the dangerous work environment at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center left her vulnerable to attack. Reporter Lea Skene has the story. 


Case delay

An appeals court ruled that the trial of an ex-Livingston Parish sheriff's deputy accused of sex crimes should be delayed. Reporter James Finn explains why.
