Talking crime: New Orleans’s crime surge got a national airing when Mayor LaToya Cantrell appeared on the Sunday morning talk show “Face the Nation.” Cantrell was one of four mayors discussing crime and policing on the show. Seeing green: New Orleans tree canopy took a beating during Hurricane Katrina – more than 400,000 trees were wiped out by the wind and floodwater.
