Covid pandemic could end 'within months'

Coronavirus vaccines should allow Scotland to manage the Covid pandemic 'less restrictively', Nicola Sturgeon has declared, as she prepares to announce a restrictions update today.

It comes after the First Minister praised an article by professor Devi Sridhar, who said Brits could see the end of the pandemic “within months, if not weeks” because of the vaccine rollout.

Scottish village declared hottest in UK on Bank Holiday

The Met Office recorded the highest UK temperature on the Bank Holiday Monday in a Scottish village.

Residents enjoyed a sizzling 25.1°C at the small village in Wester Ross.

Scots took to beaches and parks to make the most of the balmy conditions.

12 areas with Covid case rates above the level two threshold

Ahead of Nicola Sturgeon's briefing today, we've put together a list of the 12 areas in Scotland which are currently above the threshold for level two coronavirus restrictions.

This means they exceeded 50 cases per 100,000 people between May 21 and May 27.

However, the First Minister has indicated that more than just case rates will be taken into consideration during the review process.
