Scott Rabalais: A new era for LSU football

Dear readers,

In covering LSU football for the past 30 years, I've seen a lot: highs, lows, huge wins, shocking losses, great players, big recruiting classes and three national championships. I've also covered five coaching changes — and there's nothing more exhausting, or exhilarating.

As you've seen over the past couple months, our team at The Advocate and The Times-Picayune — Wilson Alexander, Leah Vann, Sheldon Mickles and yours truly — have been digging deep on what this search means for the LSU football program, and for the university itself.

That, of course, will ramp up now that LSU has named Brain Kelly as head coach.

Wilson and Leah will cover everything from the hiring of the new staff to the upcoming recruiting class, including national signing day Dec. 15 — not to mention what will likely be a few more transfers. I'll continue to tell you what I think it all means, and what I think happens next.
