Good morning,

Welcome to Monday's newsletter from The Scotsman. I hope you managed to enjoy some of this beautiful sunshine we've been having.

We start today with some great news. Scotland has now moved to Level 0, allowing for more lockdown restrictions to be lifted.

Measures surrounding hospitality venues and social gatherings will be scrapped, but some restrictions, such as mandatory mask wearing, will remain. You can get a refresher on all the changes coming into effect today, here.

It's quite different from England's so-called 'Freedom Day' and we will still have several Covid regulations our friends south of the border will not. It's a step in the right direction but Nicola Sturgeon has warned Covid restrictions are being “eased, not abandoned”.

Exclusive: Scotland's Test and Protect isolation figures continuing to lag far behind England

Test and Protect is showing “cause for concern” and struggling to keep up with a surge in Covid cases despite record numbers of Scots set to be told to isolate this month, it has been claimed.

New figures seen exclusively by The Scotsman show 6,734 people had been pinged by the Protect Scotland app, run by NHS Scotland's Test and Protect, for the month to July 15. The July data is also the highest figure recorded since December, and is on course to set a monthly record for close contacts.

Visitors to famous Scottish beauty spot face three penalty points amid car ban plan

Visitors who drive into a village on the shores of one of Scotland's most picturesque lochs face three penalty points under a tough plan to restrict traffic at the beauty spot.

Tight new rules to prohibit driving in the historic centre of Luss are now being decided by Argyll and Bute Council following consultation.

One businesswoman, who will have to pay more than £480 for each staff parking permit under the rules, says it sends out the wrong message about Luss and raises questions about the fairness of the traffic ban.

Buyers queue up for £5m Scottish island estate once owned by Genesis

Potential buyers are queuing up to view a Scottish island estate with a derelict country house and a £5 million plus price tag.

The dilapidated Pennyghael House, at the heart of Pennyghael estate, has not been lived in for more than 30 years and is in need of total renovation. Present owners, the Dutch company Epsilon, bought the estate, with frontage to Loch Scridain in the north and the Firth of Lorne to the South, from rock band Genesis in 1997.

If you have very deep pockets and fancy it, you can learn more here.
