Victoria's anti-corruption body has alleged that a group of senior education officials and software salesmen planned to make gains from the failed Ultranet, a state-wide education intranet that was supposed to make things easier for parents and students. The fiasco has cost taxpayers up to $240 million. Increasing competition from global operators, changing trade deals, and political uncertainty are causing a slowdown in Australia’s tech market with just 2% growth predicted for this year, and a further decline to 1% growth for 2018.
