2 school staff deaths reported
| Sept. 23, 2021 The Minnesota Department of Health said that they have confirmed the deaths of two school staff members due to COVID-19. They are the first pre-K through 12 staff member deaths from the virus recorded this academic year. In total, 10 staff member COVID-19 deaths have been associated with school settings since state officials started tracking them. But these are among the first as the state has pushed for districts and charters to fully reopen, even as vaccines still haven’t been approved for children under 12. Currently, more than 770 school buildings are reporting at least one case of COVID among students or staff — a steep rise in cases from August.
