Basketball tournament impact estimated at $3.1M

The Southeastern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament brought 45,093 visitors last week to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, making an economic impact of the area of about $3.1 million.

PRC Laser to relocate to Ladson

The company, a manufacturer of industrial lasers and laser systems, is moving its headquarters from New Jersey to Charleston County. The company is investing $1.4 million to renovate its space and is expected to create 73 new jobs.

Tate, a former presidential finalist, named new USC provost

Bill Tate was among 3 finalists for the post and was also 1 of 4 finalists for the position of USC president last year. He becomes the first African American provost in the university’s history.

BMW’s Sky Foster named Woman of the Year

Sky Foster, communications manager at BMW Manufacturing, on Friday was named the 2020 S.C. Manufacturers Alliance Woman of the Year at the Palmetto Women’s Manufacturing Forum in Spartanburg.

3C to host small business roundtable on Tuesday

The Connected Commerce Council will host a roundtable discussion Tuesday in Charleston, with small businesses and state and federal policymakers speaking. The discussion will highlight tools and resources and how public policy can affect small businesses.
