New fitness training center coming to Columbia

F45 Training will open its first Columbia location and fourth in South Carolina at Cross Hill Market on Fort Jackson Boulevard. The fitness franchise has more than 1,300 locations worldwide specializing in high-intensity group workouts.

North Charleston soliciting input for comprehensive plan

Five open house-style public meetings are scheduled later this month to give the community an opportunity to provide input on an update to Prime North Charleston, North Charleston’s comprehensive plan.

Draexlmaier names Kerry Curvey new CEO for the Americas

The Draexlmaier Group, a supplier to the international automotive industry and one of the Upstate’s largest employers, has named Kerry Curvey its new CEO for the Americas region. The appointment was effective Feb. 1. Curvey succeeds Josef Mittermeier, who is returning to the corporate headquarters of the Draexlmaier Group in Germany. The Duncan office is U.S. headquarters for Draexlmaier.

MTC programs make national diversity rankings

Midlands Technical College had 5 career areas recognized for degrees awarded to African-American students in a national publication’s annual rankings. Overall, 14 MTC career areas made the rankings of degrees conferred to minorities.

Port gate issue attributed to power problems

A technical issue that delayed the opening of the gates at the S.C. Ports Authority’s container terminals on Wednesday was because of power failures in the information technology system, port leadership said. The problem was strictly power-related, leadership said, and no outside interference was involved.
