Unemployment claims drop in S.C. for first time in 5 weeks

For the week ending April 18, 73,116 people filed initial unemployment claims, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. That represents a decrease of 14,570 from the previous week.

Tindall Corp. expanding in Spartanburg

Tindall Corp., a manufacturer of precast, prestressed architectural and structural systems, plans to expand operations in Spartanburg County. The $27.9 million investment will create 20 new jobs. Spartanburg County Council Chairman A. Manning Lynch Jr. said Tindall’s growth is an indication of healthy economic development conditions.

Booz Allen donating $500,000 to Lowcountry Food Bank

IT company Booz Allen Hamilton is donating $500,000 to the Lowcountry Food Bank as part of the company’s pandemic resilience program. Other initiatives include a job security pledge through at least July 1 and increased benefits for employees dealing with health and child care issues.
