Louisiana has one of the highest rates of infant mortality in the developed world and does a "pitiful" job of helping families care for their newborns. But home visits from nurses to help teach them how to care for their infants have been shown to help, both here and in other states. Andrea Gallo has this report on efforts to increase Louisiana's current home-visit rate of 6%.
Sources tell us federal investigators have contacted a third businessman who contributed money to Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s political campaigns. This time it's a French Quarter developer who was approached by the mayor about whether he could rent her a place after the City Council barred her from staying in the Upper Pontalba building apartment.
