Packington's pieces We have some new pieces from the Brighton studio of Sarah Packington in the gallery. Beautifully crafted in colourfully dyed acrylic, this bold and elegant jewellery plays wonderfully with the light. Drawing inspiration from mid century textile designers such as Lucienne Day and Joanne Groag, and abstract artists like Mondrian and Miro, Sarah combines their joyful shapes and striking colour combinations. Their highly finished surfaces and silver findings give a precious feel. Come and try them on. The gallery is open 11am - 5pm, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, down on beach level on Brighton seafront. |

Mother's love With Mother's day not too far away on Sunday 30th March, we've got a gallery full of thoughtful inspiration for you. We have beautifully crafted ceramics, jewellery, knitwear, prints and so much more, all expertly made by hand with extra loving care by makers up and down the country. Mothers come in many forms, whether you're buying for your mum, step mum, foster mum, granny, favourite aunty or a mum-to-be, choose something that really captures their individual spirit. Let's start with this unique jewellery display box by Rachel Larkins, part of our FOLK exhibition which continues here at Atelier. We've got prints to reflect every interest with lots of beautiful landscapes and gardens among them, like this Dandelion print by Sarah Young. If food is the way to their heart, then this stunning hand finished brown oak chopping board by Forge Creative might be just the thing, (but make sure to buy some cheese too!). We've also got a whole host of studio pottery, made by some brilliant ceramicists. There is something particularly appealing about using a pot that holds the trace of the maker's hand, like this polished porcelain lidded vessel by Alma Boyes. Or, if you're looking to spend some quality time together, book to come on one of our creative courses with your mum. Katie Sollohub's Drawing From The Senses is on 25th April, inviting you to spend the day exploring your creative sides together on Brighton beach. These are just a few of the ideas available in our online store, and we have so many more in the gallery. |

Over two days you'll immerse yourself in the experience, whether taking a walk by the water’s edge or sheltering in the studio, and translate those invigorating sensations into colour and marks on the page. Embrace the weather and move your body, making large gestural ink drawings inspired by the energy of this place. Make a weekend of it and spend some time in our creative capital by the sea. Our first Large Scale Drawing Course of 2025 is on the 22nd - 23rd March, with additional dates in June and November. Book your place now and check out the 2025 course programme here. |

Morning to night Whether you prefer a morning stroll or an evening amble, Brighton certainly delivers on the backdrops. If you're new to town, might we suggest a walk east along the undercliff towards Rottingdean at sun up, while the golden glow creeps higher over the cliffs of Saltdean and beyond. And, as night falls, head west to take advantage of all the sunset drama. With murmurations over the piers and a blaze of red and orange as the sun sinks over the horizon and into the inky sea, Brighton seafront is just stunning at any time of day and at every time of year. Begin collecting artworks by local printmaker Janet Brooke and enjoy the views any time of the day or night. Why not start with Rottingdean Morning #1 or Red Sky At Night? |
