All was quiet early Thursday morning. Anticipation of the first training camp drew near as the hours ticked closer. And then, a little more than an hour before practice, news broke that All-Pro punt returner Deonte Harris had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence along with several other charges earlier this month. The case remains open, and the Saints are in wait-and-see mode in regard to any potential discipline that happens there... just like they're in a holding pattern as it relates to star cornerback Marshon Lattimore and any potential sanctions stemming from his offseason arrest. Of course, football news from on the field happened too. For the first time since Sean Payton arrived in New Orleans, Drew Brees wasn't on the practice field. But as any fan of this team knows, it's time for the next man up to take his place. Rod Walker opines on this next chapter for New Orleans in a subscriber-exclusive. Plenty of other things have changed, too, but one thing that hasn't? Luke Johnson tackles the topic of how star running back Alvin Kamara is a welcomed constant in a period of uncertainty. We got our first taste of Taysom Hill vs. Jameis Winston. Hill took first-team reps on Thursday with Winston taking second-team. Luke Johnson watched every snap and every drill the two did. Here's what happened. And of course, so many other things happened... like how Patrick Robinson took reps with the first team at cornerback, how the Saints played a lot of base defense, etc. I, Amie Just, compiled all my observations here. Then, last but not least, my annual compilation of the music played at practice is back. Y'all can check out the playlist, which will be updated daily, here. Until next time, — Amie Just |
