Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, August 3. For the first time this training camp, the Saints held their entire practice in the indoor facility. Trust me, no players or media members were complaining one bit about being indoors and away from Wednesday’s scorching heat. Defense rules Being inside seemed to be just what the defense needed. Simply put, the defense dominated in practice No. 7. The offense was missing some key pieces, which may have played a part in it. Here are Jeff Duncan’s observations from Wednesday’s practice. Tough break for 1 linebacker Everything wasn’t great for the Saints’ defense though. The team had to put one of their linebackers on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury during practice.
