 BY ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor SafeSource Direct, the PPE manufacturer that opened in Broussard during the pandemic, has grown quickly in recent years and is bordering on 1,000 employees. A development this week could help the company cross that threshold and continue its growth. The city of Broussard recently announced a $2 million rail spur at the Spanish Trail Industrial Park that would benefit the company's plant and could help attract new manufacturing in that area, which lies just outside the Lafayette Parish line. LSU economist Loren Scott, in his annual economic outlook presentation last month, predicted SafeSource could push Stuller and Walmart for the title of largest private, non-health care employer in the region.
