Practice films matching the new 2016 edition of Read Write Inc. Phonics are now available on the School Portal. You are able to add up to six films to your shelf and can change them every three weeks. If you have had a Development Day recently, go to: Resources > Films > Phonics Practice Films - New Edition. Not yet booked your Development Day? Call Nina and the team on 01275 331 230 or e-mail [email protected]. We are working with schools to make films that demonstrate every activity in the programme. We hope to complete the series by January 2017. The older Phonics films are still available. |

We're holding free 'Find Out More' events for schools interested in MyBookBlog on the following dates: London, Tuesday 7 February 2017 Dunstable, Thursday 9 February 2017 Egremont, Thursday 2 March 2017 These events last for approximately 2 hours. Teachers will have a chance to log in to MyBookBlog and explore the site and all its features. The trainer will discuss the importance of reading for pleasure, and how to engage and inspire children to love reading. Hastings Read Write Inc. school jumps from Inadequate to Outstanding |

Huge congratulations to headteacher Lorraine Clarke, her staff and the children at ARK Blacklands in Hastings. They are one of only 11 schools that have made the jump from Inadequate to Outstanding in their Ofsted rating, and in less than 3 years too. A Read Write Inc. Phonics school, they book termly Development Days and have seen their PSC results increase from 50% in 2013 to 93% in 2016. Read the full article |

New app, endorsed by the Sutton Trust, supports parents to help get their children 'school ready' Nearly half of children arrive at school ‘not ready to learn’ because they lack basic skills like self-control, concentration, and being able to get on with classmates. For children on Free School Meals it's 2 in 3. EasyPeasy is an app that 'uses simple games to get parents and kids playing together, increasing positive interactions at home and helping to prepare kids for school.' The app has been evaluated and endorsed by the Sutton Trust - read about their findings here. |
