Best friends forever: Would you share the spoils of victory? A true best friend is rare to find, but when you do, it’s a beautiful thing. Case in point, a pair of longtime friends finally made good on a promise they made to one another back in 1992. That year, Tom Cook and Joseph Feeney shook hands and promised that if either one of them were to win the Powerball, they’d split the winnings with their best friend. And sure enough, nearly three decades later, that promise came to fruition. Cook claimed the $22 million jackpot and called up Feeney with the news, and both men agreed to take the immediate cash payout. After taxes, this left each of them with a cool $5 million, or as Cook put it, the perfect way to settle into retirement. Where can I find a friend like this? If you thought that was touching, it’s got nothing on this beautiful story.
