She thought she would never walk again

Nancy Wright Beasley contracted polio during the height of the U.S. polio epidemic in 1952, and spent several months in an isolation ward. She thought she would never walk again. She also thought she would never talk about polio again. But when she was invited to speak at a local Rotary club and learned about Rotary’s dedication to eradicating polio, she joined on the spot, and has been an active advocate for PolioPlus ever since.

ShelterBox helping Mosul refugees

ShelterBox, Rotary's project partner for disaster relief, and ACTED, a French nongovernmental aid agency, have teams in the city of Irbil in Iraqi Kurdistan, 53 miles (85 km) east of Mosul. They have been working since July to get aid supplies ready so they can respond quickly as the battle to retake the city from ISIS unfolds.
