BoldBrush Recommends: Roger MurrayGet Notified When Roger Posts New Art BiographyRoger Murray's career in fine art, graphic design, advertising art direction and photography now spans five decades and two continents. In the early 60s he also created abstract expressionist paintings that sold in Europe and South America. (paintings sold in South America raised funds to buy equipment that was donated to farmers) In 1971 he and his wife, Barbara, opened a design studio in Toronto, Canada, and in 1982 launched Studio magazine - an internationally acclaimed commercial arts publication circulated in 35 countries. The annual Studio magazine Awards Competition drew thousands of entries from around the world. In 2001 Roger studied classical fine art under Michael John Angel, former assistant to Pietro Annigoni, at the Academy of Realist Art, graduating in 2006. This academic approach is a revival of the methods used by the old masters and emphasizes the importance of fundamental drawing and painting skills, as well as understanding the science of mediums, paints, and properly prepared supports. With this atelier training in working from the cast, from the figure, and from still life, in graphite, charcoal and oil paint, Roger's design background enables him to bring a fresh creative slant to a solid traditional method of representational art. He paints portraits, still lifes and landscapes in his studio in Caledon, Ontario, Canada, and teaches drawing and painting workshops. Who Does Kevin Macpherson Trust with His Website?
