  • Rob Axson won reelection as chair of the Utah GOP on Saturday, by 135 votes. Axson made party unity the core of his message to delegates, emphasizing his endorsements from President Donald Trump, Utah Sen. Mike Lee and other party leaders as evidence of his ability to create successful coalitions. Still, Axson agrees that SB54 should be repealed and will push for that at the Utah legislature.

Utah OKs Tech to Boost Grid Power

The state’s aging electric grid is about to get more efficient, thanks to a unanimous vote and Governor Cox’s signature. Curtis, Ernst introduce bill ending unemployment benefits for millionaires

U.S. Senators John Curtis (R-UT) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) introduced the Ending Unemployment Payments to Jobless Millionaires Act, which would make anyone earning $1 million or more from any source of income ineligible for unemployment benefits. (Read More)


Utah’s economy continues to demonstrate resilience

The Salt Lake Chamber, in partnership with the University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, has released the April 2025 Roadmap to Prosperity Economic Dashboard to inform business leaders’ understanding of Utah’s economy. This tool prioritizes key data on the state’s economic outlook and actionable context for decision-makers.

“With ‘on-again-off-again’ tariff concerns and broader economic uncertainty, national consumer sentiment shows a decline,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “However, Utah continues to show relative stability. Our state’s unemployment rate is down, and our home prices are largely unchanged. It’s a reminder that while we’re not immune to national changes, our foundational economic indicators hold strong.” (Read More)
